গতকাল রোববার দুপুর থেকে রাত সাড়ে ৮ টা পর্যন্ত একই স্থানে পরে থাকা লাশটির খবর নলছিটি থানা পুলিশকে একাধিকবার জানানো হলেও পুলিশ আসেনি তখনও।

সন্ধ্যা নামার পরেও লাশ উদ্ধারে পুলিশ না আসায় নদী তীরবর্তী এলাকাবাসীর মধ্যে ভীতির সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। স্থানীয় চা দোকানী হালিম হাওলাদার বলেন, আমার ১০ বছরের ছেলে বিকেল থেকে ভয়ে কাতর হয়ে আছে। এখনতো অন্ধকার নেমে আসছে, আর কিছু সময়ের মধ্যে পুলিশ এসে লাশ সরিয়ে না নিলে বাচ্চাকে অন্য বাড়িতে রেখে আসবো।

একই এলাকার কৃষক জামাল হোসেন বলেন, দুপুরে আমরা ৯৯৯ নম্বরে কল দিয়েছি। তারা পরে আমাদের জনিয়েছে বিষয়টি নলছিটি থানায় অবগত করা হয়েছে।

আরেকজন জানান, নলছিটির মাটিভাঙ্গা স্থান থেকে আজ সকাল ১০ টায় একটি লাশ ভেসে যেতে দেখে তখনই নলছিটি থানা পুলিশকে জানিয়েছি।

নলছিটি থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) আলী আহম্মেদকে সন্ধ্যা সাড়ে সাতটার পর মুঠোফোনে বিষয়টি জানালে "জানি জানি" বলে তিনি ফোন কলের লাইনটি কেটে দেন।
