ডব্লিউএইচওর এক মুখপাত্র বলেছেন, তথ্য ভাগাভাগিতে সহায়তার উদ্দেশ্য নিয়ে বৈঠকটি সাজানো হয়েছে।
ডব্লিউএইচওর ইউরোপীয় অঞ্চলের পরিচালক হ্যানস ক্লুজ এ বিষয়ে একটি টুইট করেছেন। তিনি তাঁর টুইটে বলেছেন, আমাদের হাতে আরও ভালো তথ্য না আসা পর্যন্ত সংক্রমণ নিয়ন্ত্রণে ভ্রমণ সীমাবদ্ধ রাখা বুদ্ধিমানের কাজ হবে বলে মনে করছি।

এদিকে, করোনার নতুন ধরন শনাক্ত হওয়ার পর অর্ধশতাধিক দেশ যুক্তরাজ্যের ওপর ভ্রমণ-নিষেধাজ্ঞা দিয়েছে। বন্ধ করা হয়েছে বিমান চলাচল।
এক বিবৃতিতে ডব্লিউএইচও বলেছে, খাদ্য, ওষুধ, জ্বালানির মতো গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মালামাল সরবরাহের জন্য আটকে থাকা পণ্যবাহী সব যানবাহনকে ঢোকার ক্ষেত্রে অগ্রাধিকার দেওয়া উচিত।
ডব্লিউএইচওর ইউরোপীয় অঞ্চলের পরিচালক হ্যানস ক্লুজ বলেছেন, গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পণ্যের সরবরাহ ও জরুরি ভ্রমণ চালু থাকা উচিত।
এদিকে ওষুধ প্রস্তুতকারী প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো করোনার নতুন ধরনের বিরুদ্ধে তাদের তৈরি টিকার কার্যকারিতা পরীক্ষায় তৎপর হয়ে উঠেছে।
ডব্লিউএইচও বলছে, টিকার কার্যকারিতার ওপর করোনার নতুন ধরনের কোনো প্রভাব আছে কি না, তা নির্ধারণের মতো যথেষ্ট তথ্য এখন পর্যন্ত তাদের হাতে নেই।
করোনার নতুন ধরন সম্পর্কে গত সপ্তাহে তথ্য দেয় যুক্তরাজ্য সরকার। গত শনিবার দেশটি জানায়, করোনার আগের ধরনের তুলনায় নতুন ধরনের সংক্রমণ ক্ষমতা ৭০ শতাংশ বেশি। এ কারণে চিন্তিত হয়ে পড়ে যুক্তরাজ্য।
করোনার নতুন ধরন যুক্তরাজ্যের বাইরে একাধিক দেশে ছড়িয়েছে। এ অবস্থায় ৪৪টির বেশি দেশ যুক্তরাজ্যের ওপর ভ্রমণ-নিষেধাজ্ঞা দিয়েছে।
